Google maps not using 4029?

Been using google maps to get some estimates on how long traveling around takes. For some reason the 4029 highway is never used when going E/W.

For example, Chillva Market to Putong beach is listed as 51m (28.7km). Instead of taking the 4029 directly west, google maps goes south on 4024, then west on 4028 (by Chalong Hospital), which curls north on the west coast by kata beach, ultimately using 4030 into Patong Beach.

Taking the 4029 directly west would save tons of time – is there a reason why you can’t do this? Is google maps just wrong? If you can take the 4029 west, how long would the trip take?
