Golf coaches are easy targets

I shudder when I hear players say that they would like to thank their team, as just a generation of great golfers ago nobody had a ‘team’ behind them.

It was just them and themselves and the team was Manchester United or Liverpool.

So, what now consists of a ‘team’?

Well, there’s the fitness trainer, dietician, manager, psychologist and, of course, the coach who can be blamed after a couple of bad rounds and loss of form.

Recently, Brooks Koepka fired his longtime instructor, Claude Harmon III, after obviously determining that it must be Harmon’s fault for Koepka not playing too well recently.

Apparently, Koepka met Harmon in person the Wednesday after the Masters in November, which was won by another Harmon’s client, Dustin Johnson.
