After perfecting its recipes at its first shop in Chiang Mai, a highly acclaimed “handcrafted donut” cafe has found a sweet spot in Phrom Phong.
It will take another two months for the coffee shop to be fully set up, but freshly baked “handcrafted” donuts are already being served at The Donut Cafe, a cozy, cotton candy-colored joint.
Donut crazes are cyclical – perhaps torus – so we only hope this signifies the return of a round-shaped pastry fetish, years after their rainbow sprinkles lost their luster. And healthier: these vegan donuts are on par – if not better – than their full-cream forebears.
The donut base itself stands out with its extremely soft, chewy, nearly grease-free texture, but the flavors take things up a notch.
