Had a lovely young couple stay with us and they got a citation at a checkpoint to doi suthep for riding a motorbike without a license yesterday and I’m assuming that it’s just because of the rush of visitors we’ve been receiving for the holiday and they’re trying to recoup their budgets. I was told they stopped every non-Thai person on a motorbike at the checkpoint
I fully understand that you need an international license for motorbikes but then why allow shops to rent to people without them? Is it a year round thing? Is it bad if they don’t pay the citation before they leave the country? (We went to the police station to pay it for them)
