Footbridge over Asian Highway hit by truck and collapses

A pedestrian overpass collapsed, blocking the outbound lanes of the Asian Highway in Ang Thong province this morning, after it was hit by an articulated truck.

The accident occurred at about 7am in Talat Kruad sub-district in Mueang district of Ang Thong. No one was injured, but it caused traffic congestion, extending for about 20km.

After the accident, Ang Thong police rushed to the scene to advise motorists to switch to the Ban Ree-Mahanam secondary road.

Later this morning, highway officials decided to open a contraflow lane on the in-bound highway to ease the congestion and advised motorists to use the Ang Thong elevated road toward Sing Buri.
