Fishing in Thailand with a boat

Hello everyone!

I just moved to Bangkok for work reasons, but because my work is flexible I also have some time to travel.

Back in my home country I loved to do casting fishing with my small boat. Here I would love to do something similar, or other forms of fishing.

However, when I have made some research regarding fishing and organised trips: most of them seem very pricey and even a bit too much for me. Like 2000-10000baht for a fishing tour with a big boat and multiple rods, few hours of fishing and a lot of other activities put into the concept. Im only interested of the fishing, no need for anything fancy or like a big boat with endless amount of rods on board.

How to fish affordable in Thailand and where?

I dont have any specific areas on my mind, but lets say Phuket is one “starting point”, Pattaya as well, or then the coast towards Cambodia border. In an ideal situation I would pay for someone local to take me and a friend or two to his small boat, he would show us around, lots of fishing and maybe a small swim or two in isolated islands or beaches. Is this anyhow possible? For example by going to phuket islands and asking from there? Or other ideas?
