Festival of Thailand returns to Lisbon


Organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Festival of Thailand has the support of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and the Lisbon City Council, and is part of the cultural agenda of Festas de Lisboa.

“Traditional dance, music, Muay Thai, fashion shows, workshops, storytelling and conversations about trips to Thailand are some of the activities that stand out in the programming of this edition of the festival,” indicates the organisers of the Festival of Thailand.

The Festival of Thailand takes place in Jardim Vasco da Gama, next to the Thai Pavilion, where it will be possible to find several gastronomic spaces of the main Thai restaurants in Portugal, Thai massages, handicrafts, Story Tellers, Carving, Origami, and umbrella painting workshops, as well as games for children.

On the main stage, various cultural events are planned, namely dance shows, Muay Thai, Thai Country Music, traditional costume parades, and debates on Thai culture.

During the festival, the winners of the contest “Amazing New Chapters in Amazing Thailand” will also be announced, an initiative that will take place on July 1st, at 12:00 pm, and which includes a draw of 30 prizes, including an eight-day double trip to Bangkok and Phuket, stays in hotels in Thailand, vouchers for massages in spas located in Portugal, Thai gastronomic experiences and handicrafts from the tribes of Chiang Mai.

This festival is free to attend, and the inauguration is scheduled for June 30, at 12:30 pm, in a ceremony that will be attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand in Portugal, Krongkanit Rakcharoen, and the president of the Parish Council of Belém, Fernando Ribeiro Pink.

On the first day, the Thailand Festival takes place between 12:30 pm and 8:00 pm, while on the remaining days, the initiative opens its doors at 10:30 am, closing at 8:00 pm.
