Father-Son Duo Surrender After Fleeing Abroad in Connection to Unidentified Pork Import Scandal at Laem Chabang Pier

On November 14th, 2023, Thai Special Investigative officers publicly revealed to Thai national media that a father-son duo voluntarily surrendered after fleeing abroad after allegedly importing unidentified pork from 33 out of 161 containers in Leam Chabang, Chonburi.

The alleged owners of unidentified pork in containers were publicly identified by Thai Police as Mr. Wirat P. and Mr. Thanakrit P. The alleged father and son owners reportedly rented cold storage units to keep unidentified pork in several locations and generated hundreds of millions of baht of income.


Meanwhile, the relevant officers interrogated the alleged owners to further hold the involved individuals accountable for their crimes in illegal meat importing operations in Thailand.

Additionally, the Special Investigative officers issued arrest warrants on private shipping companies involved in allegedly importing illegal meat with over ten alleged individuals, six of them were captured and four alleged suspects are still at large.

The Special Investigative officers asserted that the legal proceedings are taken without delay, but some information is still confidential and cannot be revealed to the public. In fact, the investigative team has already made a step-by-step report.
