Fabric and vegan eats woven into new Bangkok river spot ‘Kappra’

Kappra is a new addition to the veggie scene, offering a vivid take on vegan fare plus a few extras that go beyond your average soy milk lattes.

Situated opposite Ratchawong Pier, around the corner from Lhong 1919, this cafe is more than it seems at surface level. Doubling as a textile studio, Kappra (“fabric” in Hindi) embodies the neighborhood’s history as a fabric hub and highlights the founders’ own history in the trade.

On the second floor lies a gorgeous fabric studio draped in luxurious vegan fabrics like satin crepe. It also houses a collection of fabric books, allowing visitors to browse and buy their favorites.

Most, however, will come for drinks like the Latte En Rose (THB125), which tastes like Turkish delight in a cup; Vegan Dirty (THB150), an espresso shot poured over plant-based milk; or the Kappra Chai (THB85), made from a secret family recipe.
