Ending the burning season

We all know it’s bad, and that there are many countries involved so it’s hard to do something about it but, i was wondering why nobody tried. Culture is different for sure but my impression of thai people is that it’s one of the few asian population which isn’t afraid of protesting.

Were there protests before about the climate, social and sanitary impact of burning season? Is there an interest from thai people in general or is it something only foreigners focus on?

Would enough pressure applied be enough for the government to do something? (probably never)
