Pathum widen gap to 19 points, Bangkok rout Chonburi

BG Pathum United players celebrate their goal against hosts Rayong.

BG Pathum United tightened their grip on the Thai League 1 title as they edged bottom-placed Rayong 1-0 in an away game on Thursday night.

The result gave the Rabbits a massive 19-point lead over second-placed Buriram and Port as their points tally shot up to 60 after 22 matches.

Pathum, promoted to the top flight at the start of the on-going season, have yet to concede a defeat in the league, while Rayong, who look increasingly certain to drop back to the second tier, have not won a single match in their past seven outings.

Pathum’s domination of the match was almost complete but their lack of scoring prowess was also as much evident last night.
