EmQuartier closes stores after Monday visit by infected patient

The EmQuartier Shopping Complex in Bangkok has temporarily closed a number of stores that were visited by a Covid-19 infected customer.

In a statement, the mall on Thursday confirmed a recent report which said that a person with Covid-19 visited several stores in the shopping complex on Jan 4.

The person visited Maison Kitsune, COS, Rosniyom, Krispy Kreme, Eric Kayser and Guss Damn Good, it said.

To prevent further virus transmissions, the mall’s management on Thursday closed the affected venues for three days for thorough disinfection, and all surfaces in the stores will be sanitised to ensure shopper safety, the statement said.

All employees of the affected shops have been put on leave to allow them to begin a precautionary 14-day quarantine, while employees who were in contact with the patient will be sent to a hospital for a Covid-19 test.
