Elderly woman in Chiang Rai climbs to top of radio tower because “she wanted to enjoy the view”

An elderly woman in Chiang Rai was rescued and led down to safety after she climbed up a phone signal tower yesterday evening, simply because she “wanted to enjoy the view”.

Onlookers in Chiang Rai’s Ban Santan Leuang Village got to see the unidentified woman, wearing traditional clothing made of black and pink silk fabric, scale up a signal tower (a la Far Cry, for you gamers out there). The tower was reportedly 100-meters high, and the woman managed to get to the very top.

Officers from the Chiang Rai police station as well as volunteer rescue workers from the Chiang Rai Public Charitable Society arrived later at the scene and tried to try and persuade her to come down.
