Easing of Covid-19 controls expected

Despite the high Covid-19 caseload, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration may decide to ease disease controls at its meeting on Friday because the health system is able to handle it, a CCSA spokeswoman said.

Apisamai Srirangson said on Monday that 90% of people infected with the Omicron variant had only mild symptoms.

She said the weekly new caseload last August and over the past week were at similar levels.

As of Aug 14 last year, there were 139,235 weekly cases, compared with 151,535 in the ninth week of this year.
