Dual sport motorcycle riding near Chiang Mai

I just got a job in Chiang Mai and move in July. Are there many options for dual sport/ off road riding near there? I am currently trying to decide what to pack for the type of riding I will be doing and the conditions. I don’t want to bring big off road boots and other gear if I will primarily be doing road riding.

I have done some researching of roads on google maps and other sources, but I am not seeing many dirt roads. But maybe I am not looking in the right places. I definitely plan to take some multi-day trips whenever I have time off work. I have never been to Thailand so any advice is appreciated, thanks!
