Downtown park closes, drones prohibited during APEC summit

Forget about winding down after work at Benjakitti Forest Park this week. 

The APEC summit officially kicks off tomorrow and it comes with restrictions being placed throughout Bangkok, from shutting down the busy Queen Sirikit MRT station to several major road closures, as well as a number of venues being made off-limits to the public. 

One of those venues, Benjakitti Forest Park, is already closed to visitors and will remain so until Saturday. The park is located next to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, which is the main venue for the APEC summit. The park will reopen again on Sunday morning. 

To ensure the summit’s security, Bangkok has also declared a “no-fly zone” prohibiting anybody from using drones unless they have been given permission from the government.
