Don Mueang airport director axed by AOT board

Don Mueang airport director Karun Thanakuljeerapat is among 68 senior officials of Airports of Thailand Public Company transferred by the board of directors after their meeting on Wednesday.

While no specific reason was given for the transfer of Karun, it is believed that it was in connection with a moving walkway accident at Don Mueang airport on June 29th, when a woman passenger’s leg was trapped in a gap at the end of the walkway. She later had to have her leg amputated.

The accident was caused by a small object falling into the walkway, causing a gap in the floor panel that trapped the leg of the passenger.

The transfer of the officials, including Karun, will be effective from August 1st and October 1st. Informed sources said that the mass transfer is intended to improve the performance of the company and for smooth operations.
