Does Laos SIM card work in Thailand?

I am in Laos for two weeks and then going to Phuket for a week. If I buy a tourist SIM card in Laos, is there any free roaming agreements between any providers if I then go to Thailand? Or will I need to buy a new SIM card when I get to Thailand?

I will also be traveling with people who live here in Laos. Will their non tourist Laos SIM card roam for free when in Thailand?

I don’t want to use my SIM card from back home since roaming is too expensive. Thanks.
