Disability rights investigated for flyer in wheelchair

In 2019, an Israeli tourist booked a flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport. He sent information about his wheelchair battery 48 hours prior to the flight, however, upon arrival at Chiang Mai airport, he was informed that the airline did not allow passengers with electric wheelchairs to fly. Now the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken up the case of the man denied boarding because of his disability.

The airline refused to allow the tourist in his electric wheelchair to board a flight. The passenger spoke with staff for an hour and a half, trying to explain the information about his wheelchair battery. Nevertheless, he was still not allowed to fly.
