Deer Resort – any feedback? Distance from main Chiang Mai stuff?

Hi,

Looking at booking the Deer Resort for my daughter and I. We don’t have means to travel by scooter and wonder if anyone has any feedback about its location with regards to things to do and places to go in Chiang Mai?

Also, overall stay… it looks fabulous and great value but will we be alienating ourselves from the main places? Or is it so great we are gonna want to spend half our time there anyway?
