Covid cases down, international arrivals up

Good news for tourism, bad news for Covid-19: international travellers have surged while infection figures have actually declined. After Thailand relaxed its immigration measures, the number of tourists visiting has seen a steady increase. With extra fears due to Chinese tourism reopening amidst a major Covid wave there, the number of new cases in Thailand has been going down.

According to the Tourism and Sports Ministry, 914,746 of the 1,342,365 people who arrived in Thailand between January 1 and January 21 were foreign nationals. The majority of visitors came from Russia, followed by Malaysia, Korea, India, and Laos.
