Chiang Mai to Koh Chang

Hi Guys, could you please recommend to me the most convenient way how to get from Chiang Mai to Koh Chang?

On the 7th of January 2024 (Sunday), we will be in Mae Kampong Village from where we need to drive & return our scooters back to Chiang Mai and then move to the airport (CNX).

I was looking into this and we have a couple of options:

**BUS**:

1. Wake-up very early > return scooters > fly from CNX to BKK > take a bus from Suvarnabhumi or to move Ekkamai and go from there
2. Wake-up normally > chill ride back to Chiang Mai > return scooters > fly from CNX to BKK > sleepover close to Ekkamai > take the bus the next day to Koh Chang
3. Wake-up normally > chill ride back to Chiang Mai > return scooters > sleepover in Chiang Mai > take early flight from CNX to BKK > take the bus the next day to Koh Chang
4. Wake-up very early > return scooters > fly from CNX to BKK > fly from BKK to TDX > bus and aiport from there

**Question #1**: How does the bus from Ekkamai or Suvarnabhumi work? 12go shows only 2 connections at a specific time but I’ve read that there are tons of connections from Ekkamai, like as soon as the first bus is full it departs and the second bus takes its place.

**Question #2**: From where would you buy the bus tickets (online\[12.go, etc.\]/travel agency)? I saw that many agencies on the street sell such tickets but not I don’t have any experience with that … like can we buy it in Chiang Mai or look for a vendor at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) once we land? Or should we move to Ekkamai and buy it there?

**Question #3**: How long in advance do you have to buy the bus tickets? I’ve heard it’s ok to handle this a couple of days in advance.

Thank you all!
