I’m planning on staying in Chiang Mai for around 6 months starting late August. I heard that you can only rent a place for as long as your Visa is valid. So I’m wondering, is it possible for me to just enter Thailand without a Visa (30-day tourist visa given at airport) and then somehow acquire a more long-term one-year or 6-month non-immigration visa during those initial 30 days in Chiang mai? This is so I can sign a 6 month lease.
Or would a better option be just limit myself to 30 day leases, exit Thailand every 30 days and get a new lease when I come back for those 6 months?
