The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will name 35 alcohol-free locations in 24 districts to curb the number of accidents and deaths during the upcoming Songkran Festival.
On Tuesday, after a meeting of the BMA’s Alcohol Beverage Control Committee, Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt revealed that City Hall would endorse measures restricting drunk driving to prevent road accidents and clashes among drinkers.
Returning to grand-scale celebrations for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Chadchart said the BMA and its network would work together to minimise the likelihood of accidents.
