Buy your own fabric by the meter at Sampheng Market and bring them to a tailor to get dress shirts made?

Sukhumvit tailors are crazy now, a dress shirt that costed me 550 baht not long ago now costs 1500. And I went to a “cheaper” tailor, local and not very touristy.

On top of that, it is known that they all make the clothes in the same place, some kind of sweatshop in the outskirts. I’m sure the good and expensive ones make them in-house.

I was wondering if any of you have tried to bring their own fabrics to a tailor and get a dress button down shirt tailored.

I’ve heard Sampheng market in China town is the place for fabrics, but there’s a lot of wholesellers. And Din Daeng, next to Fortune Town in Rama 9 the place to find a little tailor shop.

Has any of you tried something similar?

Is this a feasible idea or am I crazy? Cheers!
