Boss Ten Hag ‘happy’ with perfect start

Erik ten Hag said he was “happy” after getting off to a perfect start as Manchester United manager on Tuesday night, but insisted he would not be getting carried away after a 4-0 thumping of arch-rivals Liverpool in a pre-season friendly.

United fielded a strong side — which included David de Gea, Jason Sancho, Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes — against an unfamiliar Liverpool line-up which included Isaac Mabaya, Nathaniel Phillips, Luke Chambers and Tyler Morton.
