Last year it was Wat Arun, this year it’s City Hall.
For whatever reason the city fathers have decided Bangkok should pay homage to the patron saint of Ireland, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will be lit in emerald green Thursday for St. Patrick’s Day, the city tourism division announced today.
“We’re back! Bangkok together with the Global Greening campaign of Ireland will celebrate Ireland’s national day by illuminating City Hall in green,” the tourism authority wrote.
The building, located near the Giant Swing in Bangkok’s old town, will be bathed in green 7pm until 10pm this Thursday. The event is a part of an Irish tourism authority campaign, so we presume that under some quid pro quo, the Spire of Dublin turns yellow for King Vajiralongkorn’s birthday or something.
