Bangkok Post – Celebrate the legacy of Lee Sun-kyun with these films

On Dec 27, K-drama fans mourned the loss of the renowned South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun who was found dead in an apparent suicide. Besides his best-known role in the 2019 Academy Award–winning movie Parasite, Lee had a number of roles that showcased his versatility and talent. Here are some of his memorable works.

Pasta (2010) Netflix

Pasta is the story of Seo, who dreams of becoming a chef at Italian restaurant La Sfera. Lee portrays Choi, a graduate of a culinary school in Italy, who becomes the new head chef at La Sfera. Choi is an unusual leading character. He is unlikable, hotheaded, arrogant and has an attitude towards female chefs. He can turn a kitchen into hell if he spots any mistake. However, Seo admires him and wants to learn from him. Lee created the character of Choi to be unique and intriguing to watch, although some viewers may not like him.
