Back Forty founder Wilson leaving company

When an entrepreneur like Jason Wilson posts what effectively is a “situation wanted” ad along with his résumé on social media, it’s an attention grabber. 

That’s how Wilson last week revealed that he is leaving the company he founded 12 years ago, Back Forty Beer, after watching it become one of the South’s premier craft breweries and Alabama’s largest manufacturer of alcohol. 

Wilson stepped down as Back Forty’s CEO two years ago, turning those duties over to former Royal Cup Coffee CEO Hatton Smith. He said at the time, during a speech in Hoover on the craft beer industry, that it would allow him to focus on selling beer, “which is what I’m good at.”
