As an idiot, I booked return back to uk after 35 days not 30 days. What do i do now

Hi all
As a committed idiot and currently untreated adhd sufferer (the UK ran out of my meds :/) I booked a trip for November 16 to December 20, London to Bangkok round trip. Due to aforementioned idiocy problem I failed to notice that a. This is longer than 30 days b. Over 30 days you need a tourist visa.

I realised this today, screamed, and applied for my visa.

My friend who lives there claims I won’t be checked for a return flight on the way in but these boards suggest otherwise.

What is my best plan do you think? Changing the flight for an earlier one will cost at least 400 quid.

I am considering either booking another Bangkok to flight for an earlier date that i can cancel or change for a later trip back to thailand; or using onwardticket which is obviously a lower outlay.

For people who think I’m safest booking an actual refundable flight, what’s the best way to do this from.the uk? It’s unclear which airlines have early cancellation refund policies. Thai Airlines seem to charge 100 quid for a refund. Are there other airlines that don’t charge this for a flexible ticket?

Thanks for any advice or clarification. My fogged up brain direly needs it.
