Anyone used the new ship to Thailand ability at Amazon? My experience has been poor so far.

So, I saw the post a week or two back about Amazon now offering shipping to Thailand:

So we decided to give it a go. Ordered a Columbia jacket and had it shipped to a family member in Thailand. Delivery estimate was Sep 5th. Was surprised today to be notified it had been delivered. However, our family in Phuket did not receive it. Ran tracking at Amazon, and it showed up as delivered in Bangkok. I contacted the shipping company Amazon used, SF. They confirmed it was delivered to Bangkok and insisted that was the address given to them by Amazon. They told me since I wasn’t actually the shipper, that Amazon was, that Amazon would need to be the one to open a ticket with them for tracing.

I contacted Amazon to find out what was going on, suspecting that maybe Amazon has it delivered to a 3rd party in Thailand to do in-country fulfillment. But Amazon chat support seemed to have no idea how to handle an order shipped to Thailand. They didn’t even seem to think that was a possibility.

So if you used this, how did it work? Does Amazon use SF for all orders to Thailand? Does SF do the actual last mile delivery or does it get handed off to a third party that doesn’t provide tracking? Has anyone had success with it actually being delivered to an address outside Bangkok?

UPDATE: Delivered in Phuket today by a different carrier.
