American here (w US phone): trying to receive my USA text messages when I swipe out my SIM card to get service while I’m in bkk. How is it done??

I’m staying in bkk, then going to japan … for vacation.

I change out my USA SIM card in bkk and then again in Japan…

When I have the bkk (and japan) SIM cards I dont receive my usa text messages.

ive been doing this for years and never thought to try to ‘fix’ this issue.

does anyone know how, and if its possible to get service in these other countries, while still having access to people trying to text my usa number?

i have an iphone if that matters.
