By the time registration ended yesterday, 113,859 informal debtors had registered seeking government help to mediate their combined 7.35 billion baht in debt to 84,313 informal lenders.
According to Interior Permanent Secretary Suttipong Juljarern, officials have already mediated settlement agreements for 933 borrowers, amounting to 131 million baht, and have taken legal action against creditors in 25 cases, in which agreement could not be reached.
98,595 applied online for help and the rest showed up in person at district offices to register.
