The Thai Chamber of Commerce issued a statement on Friday offering to cooperate with the government in tackling the virus outbreak, while requesting a tax deduction for expenses incurred from health screening, treatment and vaccinations for infected employees.

Chairman Kalin Sarasin said in the statement the outbreak requires quick screening and isolation for the infected and those at risk from uninfected people.

The detection of infected people without a clear management plan will cause significant entailing problems, he said.

The chamber suggests a joint working group be established with the public and private sectors involved in the area to manage problems in the longer term.

Robust Nanyang steps into the future

Mr Chakrapol highlights the company’s latest special edition shoes.

Many new brands are launched onto the Thai market every year. Some are withdrawn after only a year or two or perhaps survive for a decade or more. However, there are some die-hard products that have remained alive and thrived over the long-term and Nanyang falls within this group of resilient brands.

A Thai producer of canvas shoes and ChangDao flip-flops, Nanyang Marketing Co has now been successfully operating for 68 years. Unlike many famous international manufacturers of sports shoes, which tend to introduce new collections on an annual basis, Nanyang only adjusted its product offerings and business structure slightly over the years.

“Our business has passed to the third generation now and remains alive because we know our strengths…

Small teams eye upsets in FA Cup amidst coronavirus uncertainty

0

In normal times, this week’s FA Cup third round would create bit of a buzz.

It is when the heavyweight clubs join the competition and there is always excitement if one of the small clubs takes on a giant from the Premier League.

It’s even better when one of the big clubs succumbs, although admittedly that doesn’t happen much these days.

The draw this week is nicely set up, with four non-league clubs having tasty home fixtures against Premier League and Championship clubs.

Unfortunately, with the Covid-19 problem, the times are far from normal.

With the lack of spectators to roar on the underdogs in their small stadiums, it will not be anywhere near the same.

Even so, there are some promising fixtures and as always in this stage of the Cup, you never know what might happen.

At the time of writing it is still possible a number of games will be called off owing to…

THA: Let inoculated tourists visit without quarantine

Tourism operators are asking the government to start conducting research on a plan to welcome international tourists, which would aim to revoke the 14-day quarantine requirement for those visitors inoculated against Covid-19.

Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, president of Thai Hotels Association (THA), said the government should start researching guidelines for vaccinated tourists to bypass the mandatory quarantine if Thailand and other countries are able to implement a complete vaccination programme for their populations.

In recent months, the 14-day quarantine has been the biggest…

Yet it is warning of a new risk inside office buildings.

“We have seen no new cases in seven days in 20 provinces, which is very good and a positive sign,” said Dr Opas Kankawinpong, director-general of the Disease Control Department said on Friday. “If we can continue our efforts to limit the outbreak from spreading, we will see an obvious decrease in the number of new daily cases by the end of this month.”

“Under the current situation, we can say that we…
