30,000 meth pills found in abandoned backpack

KHON KAEN: Police seized 30,000 methamphetamine pills stuffed in a school backpack found abandoned on a roadside in Nam Phong district on Sunday morning.

The purple backpack was found by a local resident out cycling for exercise, police said. Sangkhom Khao-aroonrung, a resident of Moo 12 village in tambon Muang Wan, noticed the backpack at a spot between kilometre markers 2 and 3 on Nam Phong-Ubonrat road, Pol Lt Col Prayut Khambonpitak, deputy chief investigator of Nam Phong police, said.
