3 cleared over army officer’s 2010 death

The Criminal Court yesterday threw out a case against three people charged in connection with the death of Gen Romklao Thuwatham, who was killed during the political unrest in 2010.

The lawsuit, co-filed by Nicha Hirunburana Thuwatham, the widow of Gen Romklao, alleged that Suksek Pholteu, Pornkamol Buachatkhao, and Surachai Thewarat colluded in his death, encouraged others to commit a crime and violated firearms laws.

Ms Pornkamol was said to have provided the funds to buy the grenades, two of which were thrown at the troops outside Satri Witthaya School.

Five soldiers were killed, including Gen Romklao, and several others wounded.
