Chonburi —

Tragedy struck Chonburi this morning when a fatal motorcycle collision occurred on Phraya Satcha Road in the Bang Pla Soi sub-district.

Chonburi police and rescue personnel rushed to the scene following a report of the accident on December 15th. They found a mangled Honda Wave motorcycle and a damaged Toyota Revo pickup truck in the middle of the road.

Sadly, the motorcycle rider, identified as 22-year-old Mr. Supakrit Yingnok, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body bore the gruesome injuries of the crash, including a broken neck, crushed chest, and several fractures. Chonburi police collected a bag containing marijuana and homemade paraphernalia made from a plastic bottle from the victim’s body.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Pongplon Thongkhambunjong, 62, recounted his version of events. He stated that he was driving through a green light when the deceased suddenly emerged from somewhere at high speed, colliding with the front of his vehicle. Mr. Pongplon claimed that he did not see the motorcycle approaching and only became aware of the accident upon impact.

According to Mr. Warathorn Suntornngam, a 20-year-old friend of the deceased, the victim was part of a large group of around 10 motorcyclists. He reportedly admitted that they were being pursued by police due to some motorcycles lacking license plates and having loud exhausts. Mr. Warathorn stated that the victim might have been driving at high speed and could not brake, resulting in the collision.

Chonburi police plan to thoroughly analyze CCTV footage to reconstruct the accident’s timeline and determine the exact cause. Other members of the motorcycle group will be summoned for further questioning and investigation before any legal proceedings commence.
