Visas are generally issued by Thai Embassies and Consulates for the purpose of your travel and stay to Thailand. Visas are typically valid for 3, 6, or 12 months and are the period during which you can enter Thailand. On arrival at one of Thailand Immigration checkpoints, the entry clearance officer will grant you a period of stay subject to the Visa type being used. (Know as your permission of stay). Visa validity is the period during which a visa may be used to enter Thailand. On the other hand, the “permission to stay” is granted by an Immigration officer on entry. To legally work in Thailand you need the correct Visa type to apply for a work permit.
