Why are Thais are buying Chinese Cars?

Been in Thailand mainly in BKK and Pattaya for 6ish years and everywhere i went i would see mainly German and Japanese cars but recently i’ve been seeing rise of chinese car brands aka Ora, MG and Haval on road and I’m wondering why are thai people buying them?

I’m no car enthusiast but Even Korean Cars aren’t reliable let alone Chinese.

Are the people buying them ethnic Chinese? Or is it that Chinese cars generally cheaper?
