I am American and I am in Thailand now and I think I might want to apply for some kind of long-term visa while I am here, but I am not sure which one yet. Do all long-term Thai visas require a criminal background check from your native country? If no, which long-term visas do NOT require one? ED visa? LTR Visa?
I have no idea how I would even be able to get background check paperwork from the U.S. while I am in Thailand. Do they require a national background check or just one from the state where you live? Does a national check go through the FBI or Justice Department or some other agency? TIA.
