Where to buy & upgrade 2ndhand ThinkPad

Just as a personal project, I’m looking to buy and upgrade an old ThinkPad & see if I can turn it into a daily driver. No idea which one, I’d just like to go browse the selection at the secondhand laptop market. Where is the secondhand laptop market, the one(s?) where they also sell components to build your own computer?

Also, does anyone know where to buy GENUINE Lenovo/ThinkPad batteries for older models? I’ve had really bad luck buying online. They claim it’s genuine and a bad Chinese knockoff shows up that the computer won’t recognize.
