Where do you meet people that can hold an interesting conversation?

This may be a bit of a weird question. But I’m really struggling to find people to have an interesting conversation with. I met an old friend again recently and it just hit me in the face how much I miss a good conversation and how I’ve been getting dumber and more dull living here by lack intellectually stimulating and challenging conversation.

It’s easy to hook up with girls here but it gets boring rather quickly. Don’t get me wrong, they are all nice and good people; I never had an issue with anyone and I can’t say anything bad about them. But there’s simply nothing to talk about. Any topic that goes beyond domestic issues or is slightly more complex than the question of what to eat causes silence or honest “I don’t know”, and even for the things that we talk about, the conversations seems to lack depth, detail and opinion.

Am I the only one feeling this way? How do others deal with it?

I also need to add that I’m an introvert so I’m generally not someone who goes to random places to chat up people. But I’m at a point where I would even force myself to do that.
