When should you apply for Visa extension if you are in Thailand?

Hello,

We are a family with a toddler and we plan to stay in Thailand for 90 days. We hold a German passport and already applied for E-Visa and received approval for first 60 days.

I read that you can extend the visa for another 30 days when you are in Thailand. In our case, we want to do it when we’re in Koh Samui.

My question would be when is the deadline to submit the visa extension application without receiving a fine due to potential E-visa expiry?

I do not know how long does the visa extension take considering we have a toddler

Any insights?
