Just returned to BKK after about 6 months away, and it looks like they cleared away most of Soi 11 for some new building construction. Why? Not that I was ever some kind of huge Soi 11 fan, but it was occasionally a source of slightly-sketchy fun.
What gives? Is this part of some larger effort to “clean up the town?” Or is it just some rich developer moving in and wanting to develop an area that has high tourist traffic?
I don’t want to say it, but I kinda miss the old Soi 11. It was its own weird sort of sketchy fun, and some of the street food wasn’t bad.
