Weather warning issued for 50 provinces in Thailand amid expected heavy rainfall

The Meteorological Department of Thailand issued a weather warning for 50 provinces today, as parts of the country brace for heavy rainfall. The southern region is set to experience the heaviest downpours, which may lead to flash floods and forest waterflow. Bangkok is expected to see a 60% chance of showers and gusty conditions. This forecast is valid for the 24 hours beginning today.

The current weather conditions are the result of a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China spreading down and covering the upper northeastern region. Concurrently, easterly winds are prevailing over the lower central and southern regions, accompanied by a low-pressure trough covering the Malaysian coast. As a result, the northern, eastern, and central regions are likely to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds.
