“Warriors in white gowns” leave for Samut Sakhon

CHIANG MAI: The first team of eight medical personnel, dubbed “warriors in white gowns”, left this northern city on Sunday morning for Samut Sakhon province to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

The eight are part of the 33 volunteers comprising doctors, nurses and health officials who are to operate in Samut Sakhon to support the work of medical personnel there on rotation between Feb 8 and March 6.

Samut Sakhon is a major hotspot of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

They were seen off in a van from the provincial public health office by by Dr Jatuchai Maneerat, the Chiang Mai public health chief, friends, relatives, mass media and the local people who turned up to give them moral support.

The team will operate in Samut Sakhon during Feb 8-14. On returning from Samut Sakhon, they will be quarantined for 14 days before resuming their normal duties.
