Walking code of Thai ethics

So, is there a hidden rule about walking on sidewalks that you share with motorcycles and pedestrians? It’s not the motorcycles that get me. It’s the people! On several occasions, I’ve been walking home with bags/boxes in hand and there are a group of people who are walking towards me and cover the whole walkway like they own it. Often times, people who are walking in my direction just plunge right into me. I’m sure they see me. I do not deviate from the straight line I am walking on and I am not hard to miss! This happens so much. I find it hard to to believe that people don’t have a good sense of spacial relationships. Why do people not acknowledge others around them? We do this in traffic all the time.

*note: I’ve been here almost a decade and nothing has changed so it must be cultural.
