Visiting Thailand during August

Hi good people of r/thailand. I am planning to visit Thailand during the first week of August for a period of 10 days. I was hoping to chill and unwind in some islands and then travel north into Bangkok and depart from Bangkok back to home. Do you folks think this is a good idea considering the weather in Aug?

Also, please suggest me a better plan of any. I am also not sure about which place down South I want to visit, if you guys could suggest that would be awesome.

I am mainly looking to have great food, visit main attractions, have a fun time altogether.
