Walk to Suan Pakkad Palace Museum. Once the residence of Princess Chumbhot of Nagor Svarga, one of Thailand’s leading art collectors, this lovely complex contains five traditional Thai houses, each featuring a collection of historic items and works of art. Walk along Rangnam road pass King Power Rangnam the duty shop to Victory Monument is a massive, imposing structure very visible from the nearby MRT commemorating Thailand`s military spats with France before WW II. It is located on a round-a-bout serviced by four very busy roads so, isn`t easy to access but is worth the effort if you are interested in military history. Locals are very respectful of what it represents. There is a local secret the once famous “boat noodle soup” can be found in a nearby alleyway to the north of the monument.
Visit the local market along Rajavithi road and you will see the biggest medical center in Thailand and the world along this road. After that can enjoy and have lunch at the café Narasingh. It is the first coffee shop in Thailand. It is over 100 years old, built in the late reign of King Rama VI with a classic atmosphere. Excellent food and drinks, been there many times, impressed every time. Visit Phayathai Palace with its rich history dated back to the previous century, Phyathai Palace was once known as King Rama V’s place for relaxing and sometimes served as the royal cottage for the King’s agricultural experiments. The Queen Mother and King Rama VI once spent their times at the Palace. It was later transformed into a five-star hotel and the Royal Thai Army’s medical headquarters, which marked the beginning of Phramongkutklao Hospital. Phyathai Palace now serves as a museum with these interesting sections: Pimarn Chakri Throne Hall, Waikoon Theppayasatharn Throne Hall*,* Sri Sutthaniwart Throne Hall*,* Thewarat Sapharom Throne Hall, Udom Wanabhorn Throne Hall, Mekkala Rujee Palace, Royal Concourse, Roman Garden*. Open* Tues and Thurs at 13.30 pm., Sat and Sun at 09.30 am and
13.30 pm. Visitors are required to wear appropriate attire.
