Visa exemption entry and exit 2023

Hey there, I can see this has been asked before however some of the info seems like it could be out of date by now, as I’ve read varying info outside of Reddit also.

I’m planning to head back to Thailand (was there just over two weeks ago), and intended on getting a tourist visa as I will be there for more than 30 days (from a visa exempt country) – however I have missed the cut off for getting the visa before my flight as the office closes for the weekend.

Would heading to Malaysia for a weekend +/- 1 or 2 days in the middle of my trip then coming back to Thailand work?

Total for this second trip to Thailand would have been 58 days – so around the 28 day mark in Thailand, pop over to Malaysia for 3 or 4 days, then head back to Thailand for another 26-27 days.

This would mean this year I would have entered and exited Thailand 3 times – all by air.

Looking for recent experiences or advice please 🙏
